Great!
BenKeymasterHi Norm,
As you’ve recognized, in Practical Citation repository information is a publication fact.
If you want the benefits of using Practical Citation you should not use the other fields.
Example one is for the physical book, not the archive.org images. I included the link in Practical Citation so you can see the book to which I’m referring. Sorry I didn’t make that clear in the text. I’ve made that change so it will appear in the next update.

BenKeymasterHi Mark,
The evidence you’ve gathered from the source can be recorded in your research notes and event or fact record.

BenKeymasterHi Norm,
There are so many! See Keith Riggle’s article on GenealogyTools.com for our latest testing results (it’s been updated for version 8):
Family Tree Software Alternatives, Part 5: MacFamilyTree 8 (Updated 3 May 2016)
I’ve not tested TNG because it’s not genealogy research software. As you know it’s purpose is setting up and maintaining a genealogical website.

BenKeymasterHi Norm,
The general approach can apply, but the parts specific to recording sources in your software won’t.
The makers of MacFamilyTree have made some poor choices with respect to source citation and GEDCOM import/export. It’s among my least recommended genealogy applications.

BenKeymasterHi Karen! Thanks for the feedback. I’m strongly considering both of those suggestions for inclusion in future versions.

BenKeymasterHi Mark.
I think it depends on how you’re using your citations. It sounds like your method helps you when you’re browsing and perhaps analyzing your citations. If so, it’s great!
As for the 4Ws method, the “what” is treated like the other Ws by asking onesself questions about it to determine placement. I find that many times the “what” ends up in the descriptive title.
In your example you’re putting the “what” after the information location (at the end). That method doesn’t detract from the aims of Practical Citation so go for it!

BenKeymasterHi Roger.
I’ve got the testing done. I still need to add instructions to the guide. That’s the second task on my list now. First I want to add an appendix with answers to the exercises as that often requested.

BenKeymasterHi Troy. There isn’t yet. Is that the software you’re using or are you considering it?

BenKeymasterFTM 2014 and 3 versions are complete and ready for download in your member’s area.
BenKeymasterHi Henry.
Sorry about that. I made a mistake when I added the link. It should work now.
With best regards,

BenKeymasterHi Henry. Click on “Members” on the navigation bar at the top of the page. You’ll see all available editions under “Download Links.”

BenKeymasterI sent you an email.
BenKeymasterIn my experience it is. For example, I don’t need a page number to find a book through Google.
For cases where it is necessary you could consider adding the information to the source record.
BenKeymasterHi Bonnie.
I finished the FTMM 3 and FTM 2014 versions today. Would you be interested in and able to review it and give me feedback by Sunday? If so I will provide you a review copy and complementary FTMM3 edition community membership.
