Thanks Ben and Mark – very helpful. I’ve been regularly exporting from MacFamilyTree and into TNG. Do you have any experience with it?

Do you recall what the glaring issues with MacFamilyTree’s GEDCOM import/export? I’ve put a ton of time into it already and want to know what I’m up against if I try to move.

    Thank you!

I’ll piggy back on this thread if that’s ok. I’m using MacFamilyTree 8 as I mentioned in a different thread yesterday. I went ahead and decided to try and use practical citation with MacFamilyTree 8. Most of the Practical Citation Components make sense with the available fields but I do have a few questions. Here’s how I have it mapped out so far:

    MacFamilyTree 8

    * How does the repository fit in? Seems similar to publisher – should I stop using it?
    * If I convert all of my current sources to use Practical Citation should I bother with the other fields like Date, Place of Issue, Authority, etc.?
    * Where is a good place for URLs? In example 1 in your book you are citing a book found on archive.org. You didn’t include the URL for that book on archive.org. Was that intentional? Archive.org itself wasn’t mentioned in your citation – was that purposeful as well?

Thanks Ben for this resource and your time!

Hi Ben, just about to get started reading the book – looking forward to it! Will your tips apply to MacFamilyTree 8?
